When I was moving from a Windows NAS (God, fuck windows and its permissions management) on an old laptop to a Linux NAS I had to copy about 10TB from some drives to some other drives so I could re-format the drives as a Linux friendly format, then copy the data back to the original drives.

I was also doing all of this via terminal, so I had to learn how to copy in the background, then write a script to check and display the progress every few seconds. I’m shocked I didn’t loose any data to be completely honest. Doing shit like that makes me marvel at modern GUIs.

Took about 3 days in copying files alone. When combined with all the other NAS setup stuff, ended up taking me about a week just in waiting for stuff to happen.

I cannot reiterate enough how fucking difficult it was to set up the Windows NAS vs the Ubuntu Server NAS. I had constant issues with permissions on the Windows NAS. I’ve had about 1 issue in 4 months on the Linux NAS, and it was much more easily solved.

The reason the laptop wasn’t a Linux NAS is due to my existing Plex server instance. It’s always been on Windows and I haven’t yet had a chance to try to migrate it to Linux. Some day I’ll get around to it, but if it ain’t broke… Now the laptop is just a dedicated Plex server and serves files from the NAS instead of local. It has much better hardware than my NAS, otherwise the NAS would be the Plex server.

I’m barely into politics, my high school teachings of the political system aren’t terribly strong in my mind. All that to ask:

1. Can he do that?

And, if so:

2. What would need to happen for a president to convert our system to lifetime terms?

3. What would need to happen for a president to convert our system to a dictatorship/monarchy/whatever? (so we actually never voted again)

4. Is it at all likely that Trump could make either of those things happen?

Yeah, like the other person said, corporate IT is responsible for that stuff. I guess they’re working through the weekend to try to get it fixed.

Yeah, our VMs completely died at work. Has to set up temporary stuff on hardware we had laying around today. Was kinda fun, but stressful haha.

Oh absolutely, I agree with that comparison. That said, I’d take an IDE over AI 11 times out of 10.

I understand how it works, but that’s irrelevant if it does work as a tool in my toolkit. I’m also not relying on the LLM, I’m taking it with a massive grain of salt. It usually gets most of the way there, and I have to fix issues or have it revise the code. For simple stuff that’d be busy work for me, it does pretty well.

It would be my fuck up if it fucks up, and I don’t catch it. I’m not putting code it writes directly into production, I’m not stupid.

Tell that to the code I have it write and debug daily. I was skeptical at first, but it’s been a huge help for that, as well s learning new (development) languages.

I think you misread. The headline itself says that weed is being used more than alchohol, not more than it was when it was illegal.

Yeah, I thought of that, but it didn’t make any sense with the context of the article. We already know we’re always being tracked, that isn’t what we’re talking about here.

That’s pretty wild tbh, it’s old. I got it for gaming back in the day before I had a desktop.

I’m using my old laptop as a PleX server. It does pretty well. It has a GTX1050 in it, so not too bad. Saves me having to put real hardware in my NAS

Often I do too, but I’m in a mid-sized city so sometimes it isn’t an option if I want to find a deal on something.

Yeah, those two are debatable at best, but the other points sure make a lot of sense, and definitely have value. I say this as a SteamDeck user who never even considered the Ally for myself.

I hate Facebook. Marketplace is unfortunately the only place a lot of stuff is listed, even though it also sucks. I said I wanted stuff within 85 miles, why are you showing me stuff that’s 400 miles away??? Craigslist is genuinely a better experience (via the mobile app) these days, but no one uses it.
