I have used both types of distance calculation in different campaigns. I agree that the ‘alternating’ rule is better, but I’ve also seen that it confuses some players and in that case slows down combat.

I’m currently using the phb rule. My players have just gained access to fireball and similar AoE spells, and I use the actual circular spell effects

So far I have not seen the players actively abusing this, so for now I’m just ignoring the weird distance effects

Mathematically, a circle is defined by all points that have the same distance to the center point. In d&d on a grid, distances are measured in 5ft squares, where a diagonal distance is the same as an orthogonal distance. This results in mathematical circles being square on a 5e/5.5e d&d grid

so, one fireball, having a mathematical 20 ft radius, can completely fill a square room of 40x40 ft.

Yes I know the book has a circular template for spell effects. However, using that on a grid has the weird effect that a target can be in a place that is 20 ft removed from the center (diagonally) but at the same time not be in the area of effect of a fireball cast on that center point

Was this d&d 5e? Then the wizard must be at least level 15 before they can copy an 8th level spell into their spellbook, and copying a spell scroll destroys the scroll.

I’m no specialist, but (1) don’t most solar panels have a fixed inclination and orientation? Depending on the location that will not be as optimal at each day of the year because of the tilt of the earth. (2) The weather/cliimate will have an effect too. Your 2nd image is apparently showing kWh/kWp - so the longer term yield (h=hours) divided by the theoreticall maximum (p=peak). So it shows longer term efficiency , vs the yield at a certain moment like you appear to be focusing on.

No, the spell is only cast once, for all partners at the same time. “A creature can benefit from this rite again only if widowed”.

persons. The spell allows polygamy. Also, no gender restrictions. You can marry all of your party into one big family, RAW. You may need to check the local laws, though.

By the way, the spell does not allow for divorce - it’s strictly “till death do us part”.

The speed that you get through your rj45’s depends on the quality of the cable used, both ‘in the wall’ and from the socket to your device. For 1Gb/sec they need to be cat 5e or better.
