Let’s take that statement as true. The illness could best be described as the gender of the mind not matching the gender of the body. So you only have two basic options to treat this “illness”: change the mind or change the body, so that the two match. Changing the mind is notoriously difficult and prone to unexpected consequences for all sorts mental illnesses, while changing the body is fairly well established practice at this point.

So long story short, if trans people are mentally ill, then gender affirming care should be covered by insurance (or government health care plans, depending on where you are). That usually short circuits the “they’re mentally ill” crowd.

So a lot of these forest management practices are good in some locations, but they don’t take into account how insanely huge Canada is. Canada has more forest area than most countries have landmass. Probably. But in this case you are comparing any amount of production with zero production. So while it may be lower production than the absolute best that solar can do, it’s still an improved usage of space that would otherwise be doing nothing but heating up in the sun.

Tracks only end up changing shape because they are extremely long, continuous pieces. The solar cells are not going to be single pieces and would have room to expand and contract normally. I’m more interested in finding out how they hold up to winter and snow plowing.

Yeah, that’s the big asterisk on the “zipper merging is more efficient” premise. It assumes that things are already bottlenecked. If you have the space to merge early without slowing down, you do that. People trying to force their way in at the last minute (when they didn’t have to) is one of the things that triggers the bottleneck in the first place.

Human communication is far more than just the words themselves. In face to face communication, there’s whole layers of tone, facial expressions and body language included along with the words themselves. Whether you consciously know it or not, you interpret these non-verbal reactions in real time while talking to someone. Then there’s the simple fact of the time delay inherent to online communication that doesn’t exist in face to face communication.

All told, online social media does not even come close to replicating actual in person socializing, let alone replacing it.

Not sure I agree with that last part. Youth is the time where you are supposed learn to have interesting discussions with people in real life, before the overwhelming topics of work and kids become the focus of your life. Social Media does absolutely nothing for that social learning process, and seems to actively harm it.
