I’ve been trying to quit for 18 years now. I’ve tried gum, patches, toothpicks, welbutron (or something like that), but this time it’s going a bit better. We switched to cheap disposable vapes (Kadobar was what was near the house) which is totally not ‘quitting’ but when picking a flavor, Pick a bad one. I’ve found I don’t like it, it’s way too sweet and that keeps me from wanting to smoke it too much at a time, but when that need arises (bad meeting, car trouble, bad anxiety) it does deliver nicotine which keeps me from buying a pack.

As a side effect, I went from spending around $400-450/month on cigarettes, to around $16080/month (my wife went with one she likes, but she’s quit before and I think she could do it anytime).

Is it invisible to accessibility options as well? Like if I need a computer to tell me what the assignment is, will it tell me to do the thing that will make you think I cheated?

I liked to play where if my players tricked me, well they got me, we’ll adjust and keep going. They always realized that I may ask a similar question to them though, and it could always go the same way.

In this specific case, I’d let it happen and they’d probably going on an adventure for a wish in the next session (depending on how important the NPC is to the story, they might need to have him as a humanoid). Just like if you have an asshole paladin, they might find themself trying to atone to get back their favor with the gods.

Haven’t played since 2e… Polymorph should have been a way higher level spell with how it was written. Mice fail saving throws constantly… Super useful to derail a campaign.

This is the first time I’ve heard about a “human feeling” scale so sure, 50 must be perfect.

I’m gonna be the guy seconding it. It actually makes it feel like your own device. My favorite part is how each time you go to install an app it asks you if the app should have network access before it ever installs.

Life in general. I was nearly 40 when I realized three important things; I have the word ‘senior’ in my job title, other people look to me for direction, no one steering this ship really knew to begin with.

Much like how one day you will pick up your kid for the last time and not realize it, eventually you look around and notice you and your peers are in charge (for better or worse).

I was always under the impression social security was established to get old people out of the labor pool so that the younger generation could actually find a job. That the social security tax we pay, pretty much just goes to an account used to pay the current pensioner’s (and gets borrowed against constantly for other shit programs).

As an IT person I could still be doing my job into my 80’s, with social security, I’m more tempted to step down and let someone with less experience take over. Remove social security and that will make it a lot harder for young (i.e. folks in their 20’s/30’s) people to find a decent job.

Look into noscript (Firefox extension), seems to work well for my local papers website (they use some js to hide the page after it loads, noscript blocks scripts from running).

I’d argue the poor pay a vastly higher percentage of their income on taxes, but I like to include all taxes in that figure, not just income tax.

I’m still using my PRS-505 I bought in 2009, it’s amazing and l don’t think I’ll ever give it up.

My ISP overlords added fiber to my neighborhood and have stopped allowing DSL signups. Well they also didn’t replace the copper in my yard (fiber is only available across the street and I’ve spent 3 years trying to get AT&T to come across to my side). So my options are cable, or cable, or T-Mobile hotspot (it would be against their TOS though).
