  • There’s an anxiety that takes hold when people are lost. It can make people very irritable and cause them to rash things because it feels better to do something even if it’s the wrong thing. I’ve found this out from years of backpacking using a map and compass. GPS software is a great thing but I can understand why some people don’t trust it, it’s not without it’s faults. You can’t trust it explicitly. IMO because of this technology we are losing our ability to know where we are in a space. Following the linear directions from a GPS app we don’t picture where we are in relation to our destination. Your friend probably had memorized how to get to his job at that exit by arriving at it from a particular direction. Deviation from the norm threw him off. It’s interesting how technology changes us and we become dependent on it. I grew up reading maps before GPS having had delivery jobs, still have the county map books. There was a time when people navigated by stars at night and by following flowing water.

  • Where I live it’s common to see dead deer on the side of the highway. One time though a large carcass was missing it’s head, just a bloody stump. I pictured folks commuting on their way to work and seeing a crazed hillbilly sawing of the head of this beast. Of course I don’t know how that’s how it played out but I like to think so.

Just remembered another. A truck directly in front of me was hauling a very large, very full dumpster. The kind where the door is on the end for easy access. The door was chained but swayed a tiny bit when it hit a bump and a rat dropped out and skidded along the highway. Poor guy

  • There was someone on Reddit claiming to be an educator who said Trump has a reading disability which is not that uncommon. According to them when most people read a word they don’t need to see every letter, the context and a few letters is enough. Sort of like how the art form impressionism works. Tht xplns hw u cn rd ths. Not everyone has this ability which explains how Trump might confuse words like rampart and airport. It also explains why he says things off the cuff and doesn’t use a teleprompter. Ever see him read? It’s painful to watch, like a fourth grader reading a book report. I’ll bet when he gave a state of the union speech they practiced with him for many hours
