UK police are trained to a higher standard than they are in the US
This is true, but it’s also a fundamentally different standard. De-escalation is much more prioritised in UK policing, and the whole idea of policing by consent doesn’t seem to be a thing in the USA.
But I am wondering now, do people still see people like me and assume we are Chavs?
Do you also wear ostentatious jewellery and act aggressively towards people in public? If not, then no.
If so, maybe if they’re of a certain age that will be the word that comes to mind. Probably not if they’re younger - but they might think you’re a dickhead for acting like that.
This is the first stage.
ICE are funded up until the end of FY2029, so that they can act as Trump’s personal army should the election not go his way. They cannot be defunded by anyone. That gives them over 3 years to weed out the weak, harden the strong, and practice urban combat.
So while I’m glad that these crybabies couldn’t hack the path they chose, I can’t be glad about what it’s doing to the overall makeup of ICE.

I love telling language models the current news. They are blown away, every time. I give them a “how plausible is my novel?” analysis then when they say not at all, I tell them it’s real, then allow them to search the news. Loads of fun, in a “watching the apocalypse slowly unfold” kind of way.

Yes we have our issues, as does any country, but the US is way out there in terms of police brutality.
