I like Slimfold wallets. They are thinner than your standard leather wallets and are more of a “front pocket” wallet. They have different configurations and materials. They come in tyvek or soft shell material.

I have the “Original” in tyvek. Used it for close to a decade and it held up great. I switched over to the “Micro” in soft shell just because I wanted something new. Had it for 2-3 years now and no complaints. They’ve both been great. Personally I like the Original more because it’s slimmer, I could put it behind my phone in my pocket and not even feel that it was there. The Micro is more of a traditional wallet shape, so it feels a tad thicker. After trying both I like the soft shell material more than tyvek.

My wife and I went to pictured rocks some years back and it was beautiful. We did an evening boat tour and it was a great experience. If there are openings I’d recommend a sunset tour, but any time is still great. Munising is a cute little town and we hung out just checking out various shops while we were there.

There are some waterfalls near munising and you’ll see them on your way in. If you have the time, Tahquamenon falls are probably the most prominent ones in the UP. But they are going to be very out of your way. Unfortunately, everything up there is VERY far apart, so be ready for the long drive.

The answer to a lot of your questions is that a reasonably well trained (and well tempered) horse should let most anyone ride it. Horses are pretty smart and can definitely get some anxiety if someone completely new just shows up and tries to ride them, but again, if they are well trained they know that they have a job to do and they do it.

I can’t speak specifically about if a horse watched its owner die how it would react, so I’ll lean into your western scenario. If someone walked up to me and shot me with a gun in front of my horse, and my horse was not familiar with gun shots, then the horse would probably get spooked and run away. Horses are flight animals and once they’re spooked every instinct they have tells them to run.

As for telling at a glance how “obedient” a horse is, I can only say that I personally am not so skilled with horses that I could tell that. I can get a read on a horse’s current mood based on how it reacts to me, but that involves interacting with the horse a bit and I can’t say I’m perfect at it. Every horse has a different personality, similar to people.
