I have a Google smart speaker that I got as a freebie. I used to use it (>3 years ago) for timers, alarms, etc. and had few problems, I just stopped when I moved and didn’t set it up. I put them back up a few months ago and it sure seems worse to me. Always triggering on random conversations, or to dialog on TV. Anyway they are permanent residents of the closet now. They suck.

Some consulting firm surely was paid a few million to come up with these names.
Still better this than to be the person who weaves across three lanes of traffic to go after their exit, or who sees the exit lane diverging and chooses… Neither, then they just stop there.

Uhhh, magnets, I assume. I’ve gone through the physics courses, scrapped through intro to electrical engineering, and I still don’t get magnets. So we’ll just go with those.
I just woke up with my phone on this. My assumption is that remembering that optimal packing thing just caused me to pass out, presumably to protect myself.
The deafening “USB device connected” sound from the house bothered my neighbors.
Then I learned my house had mouse aiming when I tripped over the mouse, ripping it from its foundation and spinning it wildly.
Unfortunately, the house did not save prior to its excursion. The insurance company is really mad.
May not be it, but the shape reminds me of rat poop… It’s not clear enough for me to say for sure.
Well, they have a security advantage. I know Google moved over to requiring a USB MFA key for their employees a few years ago, and saw a reduction in successful phishing attacks.
I would imagine one of these fobs is cheaper than a USB key. It also can work without being plugged into a computer, which is good.
Authenticator apps are nice and all, but are not going to provide as much security as one of these. Apps live on people’s phones, and especially if it’s a personal phone, you may not want to trust its security. If it’s stolen or hacked, your multi-factor authentication just got less secure.
If you don’t want personal devices in a building as well, these are useful.
Lots of reasons these are still totally good today!
Ew. I hate that. I see they offer an option in settings to permanently switch out of S mode, but that seems like it’s a crappy excuse. I’m guessing most users are never going to go there, and will stay in S mode, using only Microsoft’s awful products. That’s their intention, at least.

Now, for the rest of us? Going to the ER is a privilege for those that work hard, so if you’re overheating in that Amazon warehouse, there’s plenty of piss bottles around. Go drink your water from your privatized lead pipes.
The electric buses are pretty nice. Columbus, Ohio, USA has some from New Flyer, and they’re a lot quieter than the deafening natural gas buses. The US has virtually no competition for bus makers though, so I’d be interested to experience some of the European or Chinese ones. Never going to happen here though…
What happened to motivate this rule change? It took them a really long time since chess came out.
