Or, it could mean they weren’t fine with either option? “We’re not quite as evil as the other guy” isn’t the campaign slogan you seem to think it is.

No I’m not happy, I’m disappointed. And I’m annoyed that liberals can’t seem to be bring themselves to accept that the blame for Harris losing the election does not fall on the electorate, it falls on the Harris campaign and the long established Democratic practice of putting the needs/want of oligarchs and foreign policy hawks before the needs/wants of their own citizens.
And what are the chances that the Democrats have learned their lesson and will pivot to a more progressive candidate for the next election cycle? It seems more like a Zoolander situation - they just can’t turn to the left.
Lol no “they’d” rather have a president who doesn’t materially support genocide, but seems like that wasn’t something people were allowed to vote for.
I think people just want a president who doesn’t materially support genocide. If that is too high a bar, then your country deserves what it gets.
I’m sure misogyny also played a big role in her numbers. But if Harris firmly opposed any material or diplomatic support for genocide, then she probably would have won despite the misogynists, no?
So in your view, she bears zero responsibility for promising to continue foreign policies that remain deeply unpopular among her own voter base? She was aware this was an election, right?
One person’s “slop” is another person’s favourite content, which is exactly the problem with “activist downvoting”. Those persistent down voters are effectively forcing their own personal feed preferences on everyone who uses Lemmy instead of simply blocking the communities they aren’t interested in. AFAIK it’s a problem with a lot of niche communities, not just with AI related communities.
Welcome to the community pal, glad to have you here.
Sorry, tbh I don’t know which comment specifically you are referring to. And I fully agree with the sentiment of your comments below.
[…] i made clear that people should vote for Harris and that Trump is an insane racist that may very well destroy the world if he had the chance this time, but i maintained that we should still protest the ongoing genocide of Palestinians and her bad policies like vowing to continue funding genocide. And again reiterating that Trump would also keep funding genocide but he 1000× worse.
You just reminded me of linkerbaan because your conversational style is similar. The libs have gone a bit crazy with their pro-Harris worship with the election coming up. You mustn’t mention her complicity in genocide or you must be a foreign agitator and want Trump to win right? /s
I must have read this argument a million times in the past couple of weeks. I don’t know why Dems think leftists would rally around Harris just to stop Trump. If Harris wants our vote, then she should change her policy on Israel (and a lot of other things tbh). Simple as. If she loses, it’s because she never gave an inch to the left and instead spent all her time recruiting former Republicans as though was ever going to help her cause. It seems to me she would rather lose the election than make any meaningful changes to the status quo. And that’s 100% on her.

I think you are being overly generous here. The number of middle class or wealthy liberals who want meaningful wealth distribution is vanishingly small. I’ll leave this comment because I agree with your closing sentiment, but please be mindful of rule 3. This is a space for lefty memes, not involved political discussion, or liberal apologia.
That’s no kids toy btw, it’s a fairly expensive Motorola radio for clarification.
I know I don’t like your post history.

MLs have been predicting the “inevitable” collapse of capitalism for a century now. When can we expect some progress? :p
You can’t get change just by getting people to agree with you, otherwise America would have Ranked Choice Voting, Medicare for All, free public College education, and legalized weed and abortion nationwide.
I think this is great point. In spite of majority public support for issues like these, it’s seemingly impossible to get either party to take action. That’s not how healthy democracies are supposed to work. I’d probably agree that public support is a pre-requisite for change, but it’s not always sufficient. If the public want something and the government don’t agree (say, over suspending arms shipments to Israel), what can the public actually do about it? Really nothing, other than disruptive protests or taking direct action to physically stop the shipments. And then it’s obvious what would happen to the protestors.
Yeah totally agree, it’s more of a shitty excuse politicians use. The reality is that it will impact the profits of the oil, gas and coal industries, but the economy as a whole will be much better in the long run once we are less dependent on fossil fuels. It’s such a short sighted outlook.
This is an imperialist war by Russia to (re)vassalize their neighbor. Don’t be supporting the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine, or promoting defeatism here. Just because US = bad doesn’t mean Russia = good.
Now that would be great!
And yes, I agree it would be preferable to have something that mods can opt into and configure to their community’s needs, only if needed.
