Watching this evolve over the last year has been crazy. I’ve said to family & friends: people can take completely banal photos and turn them into porno scenes. This was true in the past, but the speed, quality, and volume is tuned waaaay up compared to past uses of similar tech.

Once teenage boys understand this tech more broadly, we are going to have serious issues. We’ve had stories over the last few years, but I think this will become a societal issue. The consequences of making & distrusting porn of minors are bad (as they should be), but I bet a lot of dumb young boys will recreate their peers without fully comprehending the seriousness.

Likewise, I have 3 young girls. Watching this tech develop: it’s deeply troubling & disheartening. Again, all of this could have been done before, but it feels like a Pandora’s box.

I can’t solve your issues, but you sound unmedicated or like your meds are mismatched. I’m far from “meds solve everything!” and strongly believe that talk therapy is the best route forward (with a competent therapist, because I’ve had bad ones). Having said that, with what you’re communicating, I get the sense that meds could help.

I think it’s in poor taste, especially as a sitting president, to use this language. It’s abhorrent and indefensible. It lowers the quality of our speech in government and erodes civility.

I hate that this word is coming back into the fold as a slur, primarily from comedy clubs in Austin but elsewhere. I’m a big comedy fan, I like writing stand up jokes, but this feels like edgelords trying to claw back something that should remain settled—it’s cheap, lazy, unfunny, and disgusting.

I’m not particularly proud of my use of this word as a kid, and I’ve never heard our younger kids in the family use it. That feels like some meaningful progress towards love & respect for others, even if it’s small.

I think this is the same shift for Republicans post-Obama. Every Republican started saying, “I’m an independent.” and the Tea Party started. Back then, Trump’s claim to fame was the birther movement, which eventually became MAGA & the presidential run.

Nowadays, I have very little respect or identification with Democrats. It feels like a failed party. I think they’ll either transform more left (see Bernie & AOC’s shifts & populism) or die out to something else. I like the Working Families Party because it focuses on the economic disparities rather than identity politics.

I’m glad we found more freedom for more people, but I think the Left has lost cohesion in doing so. We don’t need to all be the same, but the message used to be “Working class vs. Rich” and the Right manipulated that into its current populism. Now there’s the “Liberal Elites” that are out of touch, and recent events make it feel that way, not just propaganda any longer.
