While american cities are a nightmare to walk, I feel like this is a bad example, like his complaints are that the pavement is next to a road and he needs to walk a bit further to get into the park. This isn’t really unusual anywhere.

There’s giant areas of the US where there’s no pavements at all and there’s a lot of things you can’t walk to, like supermarkets or pharmacies, because your nearest one might be an hour or two walk away.

I think you’re confused between which part of a socialist dictatorship is socialism and which part is dictatorship.

Most, if not all countries have a level of socialism, US has less than say France, who have less than Norway, etc.

The Woodland Trust have staff that mind them. I’m not sure what this guys job title was but probably a conservation officer or similar? He was helping us with something about the oldest trees in the UK.

For developing fast food for example you’d want a food science degree rather than a food engineering one.

Food engineering is engineering in the food industry, so like developing and streamlining manufacturing, developing new packaging, that sort of thing.

I was speaking to a guy that looks after an ancient forest and he was explaining the fungi that allow the trees to communicate and it was fascinating but I thought he might be pulling my leg, so I came home and read everything, it’s fascinating.

Honestly, anyone playing such “get rich quick” investing games with crypto needs to be honest with themselves that maybe they’ve got a gambling problem.

Gambling is what it is. Putting your life savings in it is stupid, but if you put a bit in, it’s a better gamble than putting it on the horses.

I think they’re a good diet to some insectivores.

Maggots are the things that breakdown dead stuff, without them you’d have dead animals and plants rotting on the ground for ages while the bacteria breaks them down slowly. I think the whole world would smell worse.
