I had this sort of sympathy until I saw how openly hostile people were in their open jealousy over talented people. I kept running into these people for years who were just so angry at the fact that they had to pay someone for their time and talent.
This gets to be a little offshooty for other things I tend to have less popular opinions on, but it’s the same people who feel that piracy should be the norm. No art, performance, or entertainment should be allowed to compel payment and it should all be free. This includes people who absolutely froth about advertisments on their Youtube videos. Granted 5 ads in a row is ridiculous but peraonally I want my artists and performers to be paid egregiously and I will suffer some small inconveniences to make sure they ateast get something from me.
But I think the venn diagram of people who are obsessed with AI and the people who just take offense to having to spend money on anything is a pretty tight one.

That doesn’t change the fact that artists and creatives have no other outlet than to be beholden by their platform. Unless you’re going and buying hatsune miku fanart prints at your farmers market, unethucal consumption under captitalism also means trying to find out how to provide for the staff who still contribute to meaningful art, even if that is the set designer for an Avengers slop movie.
