Making the fediverse accessible to all with Quiblr!
It does not. I haven’t used matrix yet. What are matrix rooms used for?
Valid. I finished the functionality of the For You feed and wanted to share before wrapping up all the formatting styles for the posts. Should be fixed here in a few hours.
Also, I’ll see if there is a better way to dynamically load comments. Thanks for the feedback!
Edit: Other post formats are now available on the For You feed
Notes! I’ll aim to add it to the next release. Thanks
I see what you mean. To clarify, Quiblr as a platform is also 100% private. It doesn’t even use Google Analytics. The only data that I collect is anything submitted via the Feedback form + Umami for analytics .
No. Posts are not downloaded and Quiblr is purely a frontend (you can choose which instance you want to use). The algorithm basically crafts the relevant API calls to populate the For You feed with content that matches your usage preferences. Those preferences and metadata are all stored on your device
I appreciate the kind words. And yes, I included a mechanism to constantly refresh and clean up recommendations so that it doesn’t use too much memory
Quiblr is purely a frontend. It creates a standardized experience across Instances (including the feed personalization). Im not super familiar with Kbin. If it uses the same API as Lemmy then it should work.
Long-term, I’d love to integrate more and more fediverse platforms into Quiblr
Gotcha. That should be an easy addition. I’ll see if I can push an update tonight!
Yup, 100% completely local to your device alone
All front-end.
And thanks for the feedback. Can you elaborate what you mean by “can’t find the real URL of anything”?
Not open source (at least yet). Quiblr has been a side project for me and I’ve never managed an open source project before lol I’m talking with a buddy on how that could work though because he manages a few open source projects
Also, I added an about page in Settings >> For You >> Learn More
Ahh nice, so simple
I must ask… what is cinnamon butter?
After speaking with non-technical friends, I began to think how the key to marketing, onboarding, and growth will be to reduce the friction of the fediverse. The technical aspects of the fediverse (such as instances) and even the word “fediverse” itself should be behind a curtain.
Unfortunately, Lemmy’s current default frontend does not do a good job at welcoming non-technical users (i.e. needing to find and select instances, fediverse jargon, etc.). Not to mention the lack of common accessibility features
Ultimately, I think the 3rd party devs building accessible and frictionless frontends will be key in this respect.
With that being said, I think a better marketing strategy is to say “join this app” (which connects them to the Lemmy/Mastodon network) because I imagine the bounce rate of the default Lemmy onboarding is not great.
Wednesdays are but a day on the calendar, the spirit of Wednesday is an unstoppable force!
I’m in full support of bring your toad to work day!
It feels like this picture is missing the indoor fort (i.e. a couple of chairs with a big blanket thrown over the top)
Good point. The D for T seems to be a North American thing
But in all seriousness, I’ve heard bri ish and briddish. I guess it comes down to dialect
That VCR looks too modern for this to be accurate
