Why does Steam only download at 100Mbps max, when Windows downloads at 1500Mbps? Would appreciate any help trying to make basic functions work. Thanks.

Well without troubleshooting, I would guess you’re connected at half duplex instead of full duplex… but if you actually expect me to help you after talking out of your ass about shit you don’t know about… nah, no thanks.

My web browser gets the full 1900Mbps.

I don’t expect you to help me. The Linux community doesn’t help, they just sit there and attack people, and then wonder why their OS gains 0.000001% market share every year.

Also I didn’t talk like a moron. I said Linux doesn’t “just work”, and the irony is that you refuse to help me fix something on linux that should “just work”.

My web browser gets the full 1900Mbps.

And why you didn’t mention such important detail in the beginning? “Steam on windows downloads faster than steam on linux” is much different from “browser on linux downloads faster than steam on linux”.

          I did.

I said Steam downloads slowly. Why would I make the distinction of Steam if I meant the entirety of the Linux OS?

Also I changed to Manjaro and Steam still refuses to download quickly. So much for “just working”.

            You did not.

Why does Steam only download at 100Mbps max, when Windows downloads at 1500Mbps?

You clearly said Windows, not Firefox

              Context matters. You’re being disingenuous.

I am literally using Linux right now. Busy spending all my hours trying to fix it and make it work.

And I even attached a screenshot of the Linux desktop.

It’s clear that I’m saying that I’m spending hours fixing Linux to make Steam (on Linux) download at full speed, while (Steam on) Windows downloads at full speed.

        So?

Sure they do, that’s how I learned so much about it.

Also I didn’t talk like a moron. I said Linux doesn’t “just work”, and the irony is that you refuse to help me fix something on linux that should “just work”.

You probably fucked something up and are blaming Linux not “just working.” I’ve installed many distros on many machines, my servers, my laptops, my desktop I’m on right now… they all connected at full speeds. In other words, it just works.

I literally clicked “install”. But yes, please, blame me. That’s how you push away new users, by blaming them, instead of understanding things don’t “just work” on Linux.

My browser getting the full speed shows that it’s not my connection being set to half duplex.

If you don’t want to be called an ass and pushed away, then don’t talk like a fucking ass. Easy solution. Because I couldn’t care less if you use it. In fact, you’re the type of person that I would prefer not use it. I would have been more than willing to help if you actually asked about your issues instead of making ignorant claims.

My browser getting the full speed shows that it’s not my connection being set to half duplex.

Yeah, but you didn’t say in Linux, so I couldn’t assume that you weren’t talking about your browser in Windows. I’m not going to assume you can properly troubleshoot anything based on your previous conclusions.

You’re mad at me because I said Linux doesn’t just work, and I followed it with proof.

You’re hostile and gross. Enjoy coping.

                Waiting on that proof buddy.

I’m hostile to morons, yeah… don’t spout ignorant claims.

Enjoy struggling with an OS that my tech illiterate wife and my 80+ year old grandparents use without issues. Or going back to the dogshit workflows, ads, telemetry data, severe lack of control, and lack of customization of Windows! But hey! Valorant works, right! Lmao… fucking moron.

Excuses? I never denied that you have the problem… I said that I don’t have this problem. So it’s something 1) you fucked up, 2) something your distro fucked up. But either way, it is not a problem that encompasses Linux entirely… as I do not have the problem.

Notice how I didn’t call you names once? Grow up.

Here’s Windows today downloading at 1.1Gbps. Keep in mind, the download finished so quickly, it didn’t have time to reach 1.9Gbps.

Here’s Linux reaching a max of 125Mbps, as of RIGHT NOW.

Continue to be insufferable and make excuses for your terrible OS.

I’m calling a moron, and it’s not because you are struggling to figure out this problem. It’s because you are overly confident in the ignorant and inaccurate conclusions you’ve drawn.

Continue to be insufferable and make excuses for your terrible OS.

I have no problems with it, I get full speeds in Steam… so yeah, I’ll continue to love my OS that does exactly what I want, and performs flawlessly. Have fun with Windows buddy.
