You are right…but I don’t think that’s how it’s viewed by the majority of people in the USA. The Democratic Party is considered centrist or even left-wing by many Americans. Someone correct me if I’m completely off here. I’m not American but that’s at least the impression I’ve gotten.
EDIT: Of course I would consider the Democratic Party right-wing and the Republicans far-right but I don’t think that’s a particularly mainstream position.
