On the one hand: Yes, go to the ballot and vote blue. Even if they’re 99% Hitler. If you think you have “nothing to lose”, go look at Syria or Russia. ‘The worst the Republicans could do’ is worse than you can imagine.

Wild how many liberals are so incurious they actually use this as justification. I remember like 20 years ago when I was studying Iran-CONTRA for a sociology final project and it led me to digging into wider regional conflicts and then digging into the history of Israel and it took all of a couple hours to trace back to its founding and then the Nakba in 1948 and I was like “hey wait a minute this isn’t that complicated at all, it’s just more European settler colonial shit”.
I still can’t get over the “99% Hitler” thing. It’s like saying “I understand we live under fascism, but as long as I’ve personally done the absolute minimum to make things slightly less-worst, then I can feel like I’ve done my part” and the logic kinda works for them because any% Hitler is only a threat to them emotionally. But anyone who questions the premise or takes further action beyond voting is just a massive threat to their self-conception, and needs to be silenced.
