Also this reminds me that yesterday I was told by an anarchist on the Brasilian Autism subreddit about how gender neutral language is bad because, and I kid you not, forcing people to use it is authoritarian, while in the same frase telling me they support enby people.

Just a bit of context in case someone doesn’t know: Portuguese is a gendered language and gender neutrality defaults to masculine, which is obviously problematic for a multitude of reasons, so there is a lot of attempts at drafting what a proper gender neutrality would look like. The most commonly known way is using u/e/ie at the end of words, so for example instead of saying ele (him) or ela (her), we could say elu (closest to singular they in use), and instead of amigo (masculine friend) or amiga (feminine friend), we could use amigue (gender neutral friend just like english has), but chuds love to preach about the sanctity of the language and how bad it is to “force people” for such a small portion of the population.

Also I don’t go picking fights with anarchists because fuck that shit, I see them as comrades until they give me a reason not to, but holy shit this guy, even worse that he then told me that there are better and more important fights than gender neutrality in language to fight for… And as far as I could gather, he was a cis hetero dude…
