Furry communities, due to their exclusion from public society and even public online society, even more so than Nazis, much like gestures around trans communities, have had a tendency to primarily congregate in privately managed online spaces, and due to the nature and subject matter of these spaces (a community of individuals of whom if their identities get out could cause a level of ostracization or even physical harm, depending on the era we are discussing), they become good at protecting their online communities and identities, and as any hacker worth their salt knows, knowing how to do defense means you have to understand how to do offense.
It has less to do with “Furries and Trans people are uniquely and inherently gifted at tech and cyber warfare.” and more to do with “Furries and Trans communities are situated in a cultural position that creates conditions that highly rewards individuals both monetarily and socially for spending alot of time on the computer and understanding how computers and cyber security function.”

As for how you combat the bad ones? Idk. Usually some level of public shaming works, but that only goes so far if there is no actual authority behind it.
This sort of thing is why as an autistic person I have a visceral negative reaction to anyone who says we’d be better off without the internet. Like, you want to eject me from one of the few safe places I have and toss me out into the world where my very existence offends people and I’m vulnerable to physical harassment, and you think you’d somehow be doing me a favor? After hanging out with enough trans people and furries, I will tell you there are some incredibly tech-savvy people in that group, but I also know ones that can barely operate Excel. And it almost always has much more correlation with how much time they spend online.
