Executives are immune to logic, explicitly when it comes to learning from mistakes (and also successes, really). They’ll just tell their shit bots to make things like the good movies.
People will attend movies if for no other reason than Nolan’s name is listed. You need to have that kind of sway to get these expensive practical effects approved. Newer/less known directors have to use what the studios tell them to
