A magic trick is a trick. It misrepresents reality. What the Cloudflare CEO published as bot traffic increasing, is a trick. He misrepresents reality. The explanation is simple. Lmfao this fuckin slopper is upset that Cloudflare is correctly lumping in AI services with the scraper traffic.
Skimming the titles of their others posts shows me they are often shitting on AI companies too. Maybe I’m wrong though.
I only read this specific article and not his post history, its pretty short.
It claims that while HTML traffic is majority Bots now, the bots hold less total of ALL traffic.
It also ends on this note:
The actual data shows search crawlers are the largest bot category by a factor of two, the AI number is padded by counting Googlebot twice, the AI traffic that does exist is mostly training scrapers, and the agentic category Prince points to as the cause is the smallest bucket in his own company’s classification. His “agentic” increase press release is disproven by his dataset.
This is a clear defence of “agentic” bots by pushing the blame onto scrapers, but they’re just two parts of one whole.
I think that’s a fair take. But I think it can also just read as a pedantic nerd being technically correct and noticing spin.
Sloppers will ‘write’ anything that gets views, including biting the hand that feeds them.
