I never even changed my name. Tanis then, Tanis now. No one even questioned it.
Tanis forever
Tanis Eternal
All hail Tanis!
Great choice
Are Indiana Jones and the Nazis looking for you?
Last trans girl I knew was called “Alexis” - the surname was even more posh Victorian! 😁
Does that name have a feminine/gender neutral association in your language/culture? Feels like a Greek masculine name to me. As in: Alexis Tsipras, the (male) Greek prime minister.
In most English speaking societies, it’s an almost exclusively female form of the name.
General femme association and strong upper-class association!
I have one of those easily gender swappable names (like Sam), but I’m not sure I will/would want to do use it. Picking a whole new name seems part of the journey?
It doesn’t have to be entirely new, the short form of my new name is only one vowel different from the short form of my old name. I like the idea that transition doesn’t necessarily entail completely abandoning your former identity, some parts of it can be salvaged to build a new one, also this way my initials don’t change so my old email still works lol
Not at all related, but you’re note about being one vowel different reminded me of this
There’s a word I English where adding a letter changes the gender of the word and from plural to singular
Which word?
He? lol
Heh, that’s a good point. I did just switch everything over to an email with my current name in it…
“wow that’s a unique name where’d it come from?” me: “oh haha idrk it doesn’t really have any meaning” reality: it was extracted from a keysmash on discord.
Me: don’t call me
Just call me Slutty McSlutFace, least successful slut in the west.
