Auto-translate feels like releasing invasive species into Japan. I saw a Japanese threatening a Russian by pirating Dostoevsky, only for the Russian to reply with a pirate site and some book recommendations. They have no natural defenses against these people. RIP the ecosystem.

You’re right I left a reactionary take, the actual situation is more nuanced.

Also Squid Game is the perfect movie to show on big screen in People's Korea for sure, it's an artistic portrayal of life under Capitalism.

Basically you can go through insurmountable amount of struggle and reach the very end like player 456 and you reward will be at best some cash for your family and nothing is going to change, at best your kid is going to be ignorant of the game and at worst they’ll join it and probably lose. Or they could also work for the game which is technically the safest option once you hit rot bottom, but you need to sacrifice your “soul” and do whatever you are told to be in that position. The fact that they keep making sequels of the movie and it can’t end because profit is a cherry on top."

But you know what they say. Writers under Capitalism often write the best critiques of it. Even if they are unaware and lack class consciousness, it makes their life absolutely miserable.

Also I was probably just having PTSD from The Irony of Fate. But it’s just a reactionary response I doubt the Union fell because of cultural propaganda alone, can you blame me that much tho? (yes) China does restrict access to some anime afaik and I’ve asked locals to confirm I sadly don’t know any Koreans which makes it kinda tricky to figure out what’s true or not. I’ve seen they have a gaming cafe now too so I’m sure there’s been movies avaiable with western stuff too, probably vetted tho’ not all of em, but majority are avaiable (I would guess)

Yeah it’s fine comrade, we all end up spreading some propaganda without noticing every now and then. I’m sure there might be at least some sort of control so bullshit don’t slips through, and they would be right to do so.

There’s a brazilian comrade called Lucas Rubio I follow on social media who have really good relations with the DPRK because of the institute he’s a part of, Instituto Paektu. He has a lot of videos from the DPRK in his Instagram and I remember him talking on podcasts about how nowadays they are much more open to foreigners just filming and takings pictures there, alongside other things like how they have smartphones with really good battery life. It’s some really interesting stuff.

I thought I should let you know that I ended up giving him a follow. I’m glad I managed to fail here otherwise I wouldn’t have learned about him. We should dare to fail more.
