Looks like a ring neck snake. Diadophis punctatus.

Funny enough, you seem to be his favorite dish.
I looked through a snake identification site and came up with this.

Did he survive? Better question how did he come out of a mower as anything other than a red smear. Also me in australia realising that u guy get to pick up your snakes and not fear death must be nice.
Unfortunately no. Found it dead a day later.
