“But if not us, who will stop them? Let’s be frank - now we cannot rule out the possibility that America will say “no” to Europe on issues that threaten it. Many leaders have said that Europe needs its own armed forces - the Army of Europe. I believe that this time has come. The Armed Forces of Europe must be created,” - Zelensky noted.

The President emphasized that without the participation of Ukraine, no European army will be able to effectively deter the Russian threat, because it is the Ukrainian military that has unique combat experience. Zelensky also emphasized that the prerequisites for the creation of a single European armed force have been formed over the three years of the war.

“And now, when we are waging this war and laying the foundation for peace and security, we must build the Armed Forces of Europe. So that the future of Europe depends only on Europeans, and decisions about Europe are made in Europe,” Zelensky stated.
