A strange and beautiful game with a socialist foundation, Disco Elysium’s success seemed like a miracle. When company shareholders eventually fired its creators and stole their work, that was more familiar — and proved why creative workers need unions too.
Does the game have a socialist foundation? I’ve played it several times and I don’t see it.
The union in the game is corrupt as fuck, if you become a Marxist you get told all the flaws in the ideology (just like all the other ideologies you can follow).
The way you can tell is games with flawed but sympathetic depictions of socialism are made by socialists, while capitalists either don’t include any socialists or have them as generic villains.
