I made this while sitting on the toilet for extra authenticity
GOOD post 💩
This is my comfort film and I think I’ve watched it at least 10 times, I stopped counting in 2020. The first half of the movie is very entertaining but the rest of it drags a lot up until the climax at the end. When you buy the DVD from the guy himself you get a post card with a topless glamour shot on the front and an order form for his clothing line on the back. I love this film but it is also deeply misogynistic and paints women mostly as vindictive nags that take advantage of, and then destroy “good men” like Johnny.
The scene where he screams that he is being torn apart while pooping is both gripping and an experience audiences can relate with.
I really appreciated the subtle homage to another cinema classic
kinda shit tbh
The coom
I enjoyed it but can’t imagine revisiting.
an aside: The Disaster Artist, the movie about its making, is notable just for the strange form of envy James Franco projects as a Hollywood insider wishing he could make outsider art / be an outsider like Wiseau. (otherwise not worth watching)
It also skips over a lot of the negative behavior Tommy Wiseau exhibited both on and off the set
The book itself shows Tommy to be a deeply troubled person, obsessed with fame and being liked
Fun fact: Tommy allowed that people could throw spoons at the screen at every screening of this movie
