It is not uncommon for western “experts” to know jack shit about what they’re formally an expert in. They will know just enough to keep the machines running and do the paperwork. If they are experts in a field without that many machines or that much paperwork they can be completely amateurs and nobody will bat an eyelid.

It is not just geopolitically charged fields, like China experts, it is also much less contentious fields without the same pressure to reach politically charged conclusions. Western academia seems to have a profound disdain for learning beyond immediate economic utility. For instance, I recently learned that the leading researcher on Buddhism at a major Danish university doesn’t speak Sanskrit, doesn’t speak Chinese and doesn’t speak Tibetan. They learned a little Japanese once but have long forgotten it. They are brought on mainstream media and treated as an expert.

One of the things that initially made me curious to learn actual information about Korea was how people can say whatever blatantly made up bullshit they want to about the country, and other people will just nods their heads and agree.

Literally, I was reading one of the philosophy of ethics professors from Harvard talk about ethics in general and when they got into Marxism and Marxists (as a representative of a form of consequentialist ethics, which it isn’t really) and they literally stated something that was specifically the opposite of dialectical materialist ethical theory, of which the majority comes from the Anti-Durhing by Engels, as the Marxist’s view of ethics, without actually citing any individual Marxist, or even Marx himself, while all other views had specific nuanced views defined by individual thinkers of the theory. And this person is supposed to be a leading scholar of virtue ethics. Ayn Rand was literally taken more seriously as an academic source

Do you know how to cook food that people want to eat? Do you know how to do it without products of animal origin? Congratulations, you are much more qualified at what you do than these experts.

The equivalent would be to declare that grass-fed beef is vegan and trying to cook a steak in a coffee maker.

Honestly the saddest part of this is people being so detached from industrial labor and construction that they can’t even recognize a safety harness in use, when that should be obvious. Of course there’s also the utterly invented idea of mass executions and general sinophobia, but these people are cooked in general.

Fun fact: You only have around 15 minutes hanging in a harness without extra loops for leg support before your blood circulation is cut off and you die

I had to get an arteriogram once, and they used the right femoral artery for engress. After they were done, they stuck me on a hospital bed with a weight on the incision, and they said don’t move or you’ll die. It doesn’t matter that you’re in a hospital; we won’t be able to save you fast enough.

Femoral arteries aren’t to be fucked with. Acute_Engles mentioned you can pass out after just 15 minutes hanging in one of these fall arrestor harnesses, and I fully believe that.

Is that the one next to the willy? I also had one but they just had a nurse put all their weight on it for like an hour, then put sandbags on top of it for another hour or so. Never want to do that again

It is, and the glue they used to close the incision made it feel like having a third testicle for a few weeks. It was right at the waistline, so my pants and belt were always pushing on it, which fucking sucked.

Likewise! It was a tumor and they were trying to see if they could get rid of it medically or if it would require surgery. Ended up needing the surgery. But this was years ago and I’m fine now.

I remember in a first aid class they wanted to drill into our heads how important it was to stop the bleeding if someone was cut there, we had to take turns kneeling on each other’s artery to know exactly where it is. “You’ll know if they’re doing it right”, the teacher said, and he was correct cuz when they did it right it hurt a lot.

The only thing I remember from that class is how tourniquets work.

Obviously the claims are complete bullshit and it doesn’t actually matter.

But I feel like they probably could have made it look a little less like a public hanging. Not for any geopolitical sake, but just like “hey doesn’t this look kinda like a gallows?” “yeah that’s a little morbid, we should change the design”.

Most Westerners don’t realize they can go to China themselves, also the reason none of the countless Chinese people that live in the west talk about the trauma from experiencing these atrocities is because they never happened.

This is even dumber than when they censored a picture of the red wine bottles that were smashed on the floor and pretended it’s a mass execution of Uyghurs or whatever lmao.

The Gordon Chung post is almost certainly fake–if you check the Wayback Machine for the tweet you’ll see it was just a screenshot. Not only did I fail to turn up the original tweet from Chung, someone else mentioned contemporaneously in the replies to the tweet in the OP that they couldn’t find it.
