This week’s spotlighted artist covers a lot of firsts for the spotlight, being the first indigenous artist, the first country music artist, and the first artist from Saskatchewan to hit the weekly series.

Conrad Bigknife hails from Starblanket Cree Nation, and currently resides in Regina. According to his website, his first steps into country music started at the young age of 8 listening to country albums with his father.

Paired with Bigknife’s foray is our new weekly discussion post, asking what more the Maple Music community can do to give more recognition to our country’s indigenous music talents.
