      “I might get fired if I give a paid item away for free” is a completely reasonable thing for a minimum wage worker to worry about.

      I agree with the customer, of course, but let’s not pretend that it’s bootlicking when people have bills to pay

        I agree, but feel it should be clarified that having bills to pay is not a disqualifier for bootlicking. More a motivator for it, in many cases. “Just doing my job” and all.

          I’d wager more people are worried about their loss of income than making the boss an extra 50 cents, though
