My 8th grade science teacher pronounced it “auger”, so that’s how I spelled it on a test and got marked wrong.
Never let this go.
This might be regional. I got to my sophomore year of a bio degree (including HS, in which most of my electives were science) before I heard anything other than “auger” (pronounced like the hole digging tool).
I suspect they’d also mark you down for kissing the lab equipment….
Who knows what those freaks used it for last. (Probably setting gummy bears on fire,)

Thought that was sheep’s blood agar for a sec, but that one’s darker iirc… which was the light red one? Or are there several?
