A federal judge on Wednesday rejected a request from Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to temporarily bar Google from removing videos of him from YouTube based on its medical misinformation policies.
U.S. District Judge Trina Thompson found that Kennedy’s case against Google and its subsidiary YouTube is unlikely to succeed because the companies are not state actors and, as a result, can’t be held responsible for abridging his speech.
One of my mom’s middle aged white lady friends is absolutely the type of person you’re talking about. Antivaxx, only feeds her (completely untrained) border collies home-cooked food because of “preservatives” but smokes, thinks 9/11 was an inside job, and she is one of the most anti-Trump people out there.
I used to think there were some hard-line indicators to which way a person swings politically, but it turns out that crazy people will just latch onto the marketing that appeals to them personally. In the case of this particular middle aged white lady who likes feeling smarter than she is, she’ll distance herself from the “dumb, uneducated” rural population. I don’t think she actually understands the talking points anymore than your average trump voter.
I don’t think people like her are too common though, so hopefully a split ticket wouldn’t be super noticeable.
