Instead of just electrifying vehicles, cities should be investing in alternative methods of transportation. This article is by the Scientific Foresight Unit of the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS), a EU’s own think tank.
Modern urbanism should expand into new territory and revamp territory it already has. That’s the quickest and safest method to separate cars from pedestrians.
In this way cars are pushed out to places they are needed: long haul trips to unpredictable or unsupported destinations. Or very custom time sensitive routes with much luggage/pickups.
Every tool for it’s own job, but right now due to poor systems people are using a wrench as a hammer to get around busy places that public transport would literally serve well.
