mac@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.ml•Botnet Part 2: The Web is Broken (Companies recruiting app developers to use unsuspecting users as part of their botnet)3·2 months agoYeah I’ve seen these around since about 2020. Really nasty stuff and i have no clue how this hasnt been stopped by apple/google. Anyone know of a way to detect if anyone on your network has been infected? I guess monitoring bandwidth usage? Could an IPS/IDS also catch something like this?

Minor can be breaking
Major is basically something you’re proud of lol

I’ve got this set up in home assistant, with smart bulbs that don’t access the internet at all. Its really nice, goes from an orange red in the morning to full white back to orange red. Eventually will get all of the bulbs in my house set up with it but for now I have it only in my room

I opt for the happy middle route- I use gadgetbridge on a huawei watch fit 3 so I still get good stats/UX but I’m not reporting back to anyone.
I am eyeing the new pebble watches, though
