Edit: as an interesting coincidence, I just interviewed an engineer today who has rescue diver on his resume with 16 years of diving experience

To be fair, that’s usually the fastest option to fix other people’s code even if it wasn’t vibe coded. Sometimes that’s the best way to fix your own code too.

1·2 months agoI wasn’t really into metroidvanias, but I still loved Hollow Knight and put hundreds of hours into it.
Don’t know if things have changed, but that’s what toilets on trains looked like when I was in high-school. You could see the ground rushing under you.
Including the follow up of someone questioning “devout” and getting that quote in response.
I always keep at least a leg outside the covers, no matter how cold it is. I couldn’t bear to be completely covered, I get too hot. Under normal conditions I don’t use covers at all.
If rather hunt and fight wild animals.
Or just pick a place with online ordering.

6·3 months agoPathfinding algorithms happen to be what my bachelor thesis was about. Something like D* could generously be called AI as it does modify its parameters as the terrain becomes known or it changes. I don’t think A* is still being used in games today.
But yes, once it became common to call any npc behavior “AI” by gamers, it has been adopted by game developers too.
