They certainly should’ve; it’s just a consequence of how pressure is force divided by area.

Here’s an analogy that might make it feel less weird: you know how you can reduce the force needed to lift a heavy weight by using a lever and making the lever arm longer? This is the same kinda deal, except that instead of varying the length of the lever arm you’re varying the diameter of the hydraulic pistons.

You don’t get it for free, of course: just like how you have to push the long end of the lever a longer distance to lift the weight a shorter distance, in a hydraulic system you have to press the plunger further down the small-diameter piston to move the plunger in the large-diameter piston up a smaller amount.

(I thought of mentioning pulley systems as an analogy too, but of these three varieties of gaining mechanical advantage I find pulley systems to be the most confusing, LOL.)

  • They’re only suitable for people who want high-quality color prints almost all the time, for things like photos and posters and banners, not just normal documents. The only inkjets that have a good reason to exist are the high-end ones mostly found at print shops and sign shops and the like; the cheap consumer ones are just e-waste from the moment they’re manufactured.

  • The problem is that it still went through “cleaning cycles” every few days, in which it will dump a bunch of ink into a big sponge hidden inside the printer (I took it apart after it broke). It will eventually run out ink even if you don’t use it because of that. And if you keep it unplugged to stop it from doing that it will eventually dry up and clog up.

In other words, inkjet printers are inherently unsuitable for anybody who doesn’t need to print on a regular and consistent basis, but the initial purchase price of the hardware is cheaper so that’s what a lot of people who only need to print occasionally end up buying.

  • Worse than that, it’s the mindset of the short-sighted. These fucking morons wouldn’t acknowledge the concept of government spending with a positive ROI even if you waterboarded them with Tang.

They’d rather create a shithole country where they have to cower inside gated communities to protect themselves from the impoverished masses instead of one where everybody is educated and prosperous, even though they themselves would be wealthier in the second case, just because they think everything is a zero-sum game and they can’t win unless everybody else loses.

  • Even immigrants who have become naturalized citizens are worrying needlessly about their ability to leave and get back into the country, according to [immigration attorney Charles] Kuck.

“I had a U.S. citizen come in this last week. She was literally in tears. She wanted to go to the wedding of a very dear family member,” Kuck said. “She’s been a citizen for 25 years, never convicted of anything. She was crying in my office.”

    needlessly

I do not think that word means what you think it means, Chuck. That woman knows what’s up and is right to worry.
