I do that too with the popcorn dinner. A technique I learned was heat the oil with 3-4 kernels in it. Wait for them to pop and turn off the heat. Then add all your kernels and preheat them in the oil for about 30 seconds before putting the heat back to high.

I have one too! The warm backlighting is nice.

like this

its a hotplate with a very wide heat distribution, an agitator for spinning the kernels and a big ol bowl for the popcorn

The PMC are more akin to cops. Their wage is earned through facilitating capitalist governance/violence. A social services worker doesn’t produce a marketable commodity or value for capitalists the same way a waiter or factory worker do—instead they play a role as a relief valve for the contradictions of capitalism.

I thought dim sun was supposed to get you steamed buns not stop you from steaming your buns!

I just finished it last week.

Worker cooperatives prove the important but limited point that while capitalists need workers, workers don’t need capitalists. Most ‘employee-owned’ companies in the US and UK are mainly owned by the highest levels of management with some more buy-in for middle management. It’s typically done with some kind of vesting scheme that keeps junior employees on the hook for years.
These firms still exist firmly within a capitalist context and require workers to become their own exploiters.

Thanks for sharing this was an interesting question I never stopped to consider! To summarize, the footing at the ties creates equivalent mechanical strain that counteracts the strain caused by thermal expansion. Since steel can handle a certain limit of strain without permanently deforming, this does not cause permanent damage. The strain limit for most steel is an order of magnitude greater than the strain produced by a 100 K change in temperature.

my anxiety is too bad for video games anymore
No need to be stinky, they’re just asking for advice. If you’re annoyed don’t respond, but why be rude?
It’s to measure insulin response in diabetic people. Also it’s not plain, it’s pumpkin spice! :p
The goal is to give someone under monitoring a very large volume of sugar in a controlled environment and measure their body’s insulin response. This is particularly a test of Phase I insulin response when your body responds to sugar intake by releasing stored insulin as opposed to Phase II insulin response where your body secretes insulin as it is produced to bring down elevated blood sugar after the Phase I stores are depleted.
That said this is a nutty amount of sugar and I had no idea that they made them this large.
So it’s acceptable for Elselvier et al to milk academics blind? At the minimum, authors should not be charged.
Alright but look at how much they pay the authors. What other business pays ZERO dollars for their core product?

I think the callous language used to describe people’s wishes here is incorrect and gross, but I don’t wholly disagree. It doesn’t seem contradictory to envision restorative justice for anti-social violence and repression of our class enemies by any means necessary. What else can class struggle entail? Mao reminds us “revolution is not a dinner party. It is a violent process by which one class overthrows another.” Violence is not to be treated lightly.
What to do with severely mentally ill but structurely-powerless reactionaries is a difficult edge case. I think relatively humane life imprisonment is the best option.

you are a brain dead child.

Strongly encourage you to find work in a conservation corps or similar organization if they exist in your country and you are able to do manual labor. You would be on a crew of 6-15 people usually living out at a field site for 1-2 weeks at a time, cooking and living and working together to improve the natural environment or recreation infrastructure. Hard rewarding work, good peaceful downtime. Great chance to read a lot of books too since you will be away from computers and modernity.
That used to be me lol. I saw it for $8 at a thrift store and my little crow brain pinged ‘treasure!’.
