Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•funny clause on my contract employer is exploiting to dump everything nobody wants on me, no other job lined up, what's the best strategy?
2·4 months agoKeep an accurate work diary, something high enough detail that you can look back on in several months and know what you were doing at what time on what day. Something you can then use to answer the question “Exactly, how many time this month were you asked to do X”, and the answer be precise.
Sounds like you might be being asked to do things you haven’t had training for, and don’t have the certificates for. In which case this becomes a legal liability issue, and something they can’t ignore, and can’t fire you for.
Also, be careful of the difference between “I have been asked by a manager to do this” and “noone else was doing it so I felt I had to”. If you’re speaking to patients about their medical issues without training or being specifically asked to, you could be getting yourself into trouble too.
The diary thing is useful for everyone in every job really. In your annual review (or quarterly, whatever) it’s incredibly useful to provide facts and figures for what you’ve been spending time doing. Particularly if you’ve got a manager who wants to downplay your efforts, or if you’re asking for pay rises/ bumps up to higher grades.

Same, one LTS to the next, and all online tutorials assume you’re on it. My years of messing with fstab, alsamixer and such are long behind me.
(Started on mandrake in about 2001 btw)
Yeah that seems like something worth reporting to someone
Maybe some brakes would be wise

4·5 months agoGreat country, well worth the visit.
Technology Connections did a whole video on it. In the US you could use the space currently farming biofuels and it would generate 10x the energy.
It still sounds crazy to me that you guys pay to be born. What a way to start off in life.
It was much better when everyone bought the same photo of the Eiffel tower from IKEA for the last 30 years. Artists were super in demand and lived lavish lifestyles before AI. There’s centuries of literature which talks about how amazing the life of artists was, but now those damned computers and their capitalist owners have doomed artistic wealth and spirit forever.
Back in the old days there was no rollback option either. Kids have it too easy now.
You can accelerate it into space at g forces which would liquify living beings, perhaps?
We do this with our dog if she get ill. We know she’s not drinking enough water so we but bits of cooked chicken in the bottom of her water bowl. She ends up drinking water accidentally while trying to eat the chicken.
