  • Both KDE and GNOME are good when you compare it to anything Windows have today.

    I personally prefer KDE because of much customization support. I have it working with many keyboard shortcuts. I would miss the settings panel in hyperland.

    GNOME is simple and elegant. Showing only what is needed. I can really understand people liking it. I like but just miss some small details like the keyboard shortcuts thing and focusing etc. How GNOME works is different mindset which O just have not learned. But GNOME looks good and have everything covered.

    Xfc and lxd just need some more love from the developers. There are very few of them so I completely understand. Money issue.

    ping feddit.nu
    PING feddit.nu (2a0e:dc0:2:1119::) 56 data bytes
    --- feddit.nu ping statistics ---
    3 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 2037ms

    curl -6 https://feddit.nu/
    curl: (28) Failed to connect to feddit.nu port 443 after 133449 ms: Could not connect to server

    Verkar ha fått till en ipv6 address på dns-record men inte kommit längre än så. Jag tror att problemet med att ladda bilderna på min telefon via Jerboa går slött pga. den försöker med ipv6 först och behöver vänta 2 minuter på timeout för att sedan nästa gång testa med ipv4 addressen.

  • too hard

    There are tons of things you have to do succeed to get it to boot Lineage OS or similar. Last time I checked there were no next-next-next installation guide on the phone. It is line trying to install arch linux without the arch installer.

    Yes, I really want to use anything else than Android by Google. Lineage OS would offer more updates. But also possible do install other apps as I have heard it means rooting it which always is required to get Lineage OS?

    I can install debian server on PC. No problem. But on smartphones you are suppose to do some unlocking of bootloader? Then install some TRWP or something to boot into. There you have some unzip tool that you have to find tree(!) files and install them in the right order and be lucky you picked the exact right one(WHY is it not enough with ONE file and wipe/clean is done automatically?). Then you have to do something about recovery I think. IF you succeed installation(I have never succeeded that far), you have to install g-something to get google play to work so you can install apps and get them in working shape. Then when there is a new Linage OS android version you have to repeat everything AGAIN. This is really madness how much extra work and hard it has to be…

    WHY can’t it just be in Android by Google to just install an app called installer Lineage OS - click confirm installation and let it do the rest?!

  • Configuration gui standard. Usually there is a config file that I am suppose to edit as root and usually done in the terminal.

    There should be a general gui tool that read those files and obey another file with the rules. Lets say it is if you enable this feature then you can’t have this on at the same time. Or the number has to be between 1 and 5. Not more or less on the number. Basic validation. And run the program with --validation to let itself decide if it looks good or not.
