Aside from the moral questions, bombing enemy civilians strengthens the resolve of the opposing side rather than weakening it. It’s popular at home to bomb opposing cities, but it isn’t strategically effective.

They’re Orthodox, right? If the Metropolitan of Kyiv and other leaders of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church develop ties with the Roman Catholic Church, that’s pretty significant.
