From my viewpoint, Trump is and will be causing social hardship much more than economic hardship.

I could possibly see a benefit in preparing for a harder times socially. Further division among neighbors might be the main casualty of this administration. Social cohesion is already struggling from his first four years.

Economically, I have no confidence in Trump’s actions overall, but I am very confident that his massive ego determines his actions, and that ego is largely held up by the performance of the stock market. He will be very careful not to take any action that will rattle the markets too much. Whenever he see a negative reaction in the markets, he pulls back, claims a moral victory and moves on to the next thing.

The US isn’t well at the moment, is it?

The EU doesn’t have that kind of power over individual member states. It’s not like the EU is like a federal government.

But reality has the response covered:

Many European countries has a max wait time of 90 days for non-emergency elective surgery. If the wait is longer than that at a public hospital, the patient can choose to have the surgery done at a private hospital if there’s room at no additional cost. Emergencies are always treated immediately, of course. You can also choose to have a private top-up health insurance plan if you wish to always be treated at private hospitals.

But, assuming that this is in the US, one of the major parties relies on keeping people uneducated, so they don’t want people to pursue higher education. And certainly do not support cancelling student debt.

My thought is that you should find a different class with a different teacher.

I guess you just live in a very different world than me. I would never let my parents dictate my life like that. They either accept me for who I am or they don’t get to be part of my life. I would also never try to dictate life for my own kids like that when they are adult human beings.

I’m not sure why you let your parents be the deciding factor in whether you have kids or not? It’s not up to them.

Cry more. Americans chose Trump with eyes wide open and deserve everything that’s coming to them.

They are talking macroeconomic while you’re talking microeconomics. Two different things. But perception is king. If people feel poor, even when they are not, then the are poor. Turns out they will vote accordingly.

It really is ironic how it feels like Republicans got things done over the past four years, even without formal power. Biden definitely got a ton of good stuff done, but they were awful at presenting it to the public as wins.

Well, based on the recent election results, I suspect there’s literally no limit to how low Americans will go.

Between shipping manufacturing jobs elsewhere, and allowing in immigrants who do menial work, people at the low end of the economy are pretty pinched for work.

Isn’t the unemployment rate close to record low? I mean, a lot of people work 2 and more full-time jobs to make ends meet, but that seems like a different issue.
