Elevator7009@lemmy.zipOPto Fedigrow@lemmy.zip•Consolidating strategy video game communitiesEnglish3·1 month agoHey, thanks for the information! I’ve been meaning to try specifically some grand strategy and possibly RTS games but never had the time, so I appreciate you telling me what I didn’t end up learning myself.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipMto Automation and Factory Builder Games@lemmy.zip•A factory sim in which every pixel has physics is the latest from Manor Lords publishers Hooded HorseEnglish2·1 month agoSounds cool! I sure hope it is not a roguelike, the one reason I am reluctant to grab Noita. That and how frustrating some people find the game.
I know you just grabbed the article title, but “Manor Lords publishers Hooded Horse” felt weird and I had to reread it a few times, and I still wonder if the article writers made a mistake or if I’m just misinformed about how publishing works. I’d think Hooded Horse is one publisher, so it would be
the latest from Manor Lords publisher Hooded Horse
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipOPMto Automation and Factory Builder Games@lemmy.zip•Kaizen: A Factory Story, a Zach-like puzzle game about designing automated production lines, releases Steam demoEnglish2·1 month agoIt’s cool to see a new Zach-like game post-Zachtronics closure.
And coincidentally, the developer Coincidence is a team made up of former Zachtronics members. Including… one Zach Barth.
So I looked into the closing more, it was voluntary and not caused by disaster. Also,
Though Zachtronics is closing down, it’s only really doing so in the sense that it won’t be making any more games – hence all of its development staff no longer working at the studio.
The company itself is still going to exist and its games will still be available for purchase. Barth will even be around to address any problems that might arise.
This also makes it a Zach-like and not a Zachtronics release, so I changed my title to reflect that.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Fedigrow@lemmy.zip•Weekly thread - How is everyone doing with their communities? Has everyone with a lemm.ee community settled to a new location yet?English0·2 months agoAs someone who does not subscribe to WomensStuff, so I only have general advice for you:
- If you or your instance (still forget the specifics) is opted into Lemmy Federate, then the bot drops a subscription when a real user subscribes. If that real user unsubscribes, I’m not sure the bot picks it back up.
- People deleting their accounts or getting banned from an instance, perhaps? Not sure if banning from an instance drops all the user’s subscriptions there.
- Fatigue or dislike with the posts there.
- Maybe just plain old federation issues? I know I have a community where my subscription is still pending, because the instance has massive federation issues.
It happens. I wouldn’t worry too much about it unless it drops a good fraction and stays down.

Props to you for carrying on!

Not sure what qualifies as small-medium. I have appreciated Let’s Game It Out (6.02M subs), ymfah (1.19M subs), Tech Rules (432K subs), MartSnacks (80.1K subs). All focusing on cool gaming content, no being A YouTube Personality who shows their face and tries to form a parasocial relationship with you.
Let’s Game It Out seems to focus on !tycoon@lemmy.world type games, maybe !citybuilders@sh.itjust.works and tries to mess with or break the game. ymfah takes on some interesting self-imposed challenges in FromSoftware and Bethesda games and I think some of them are really well-put-together and funny, particularly Skyrim No Walking which comes with narrative arcs. Tech Rules explains stuff, kind of a video essay thing. MartSnacks basically has three videos of self-imposed challenges with Pokémon and does not seem to upload too often.

I’ve never used a controller except a few times at friends’ houses. I grew up with Nintendo DS, Wii, PC, and smartphone games. I don’t want to ever have to pick up a controller.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Youtuber Geekerwan has find the motherboard of Switch 2 and after reverse-engineer he have simulate the performance on a similar PCEnglish2·3 months agoAs a !pokemon@lemm.ee fan I didn’t buy for these reasons but that doesn’t stop hordes of parents or certain fans from buying anyways. If they’re happy, I guess… meanwhile I’ll be fine as long as they don’t go after ROM hacks.

Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Would you like to see a mainline Pokemon game created in the old style?English21·3 months agoI read your comment less as critique and more as “fucking fans who like Pokémon” but I have a history of confusing harsh tone for a negative “you can’t like this thing, because I think there is too much of it” attitude.
Also, your original comment only says “do you really need another fucking Pokémon game?” It’s a statement of you not wanting to see another Pokémon game, but besides making a reach and guessing you think they are producing too many too fast, taking a quantity over quality approach, or that the series has reached its end by now and is being overplayed, it does not provide any actual critique of them. Not even a “the [specific thing in game] is awful” with no more elaboration. So I do not really see critique of ideas, just a statement of dislike.
Elevator7009@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Would you like to see a mainline Pokemon game created in the old style?English2·3 months agoHuge preferrer of 2D here, will admit the size variations made possible with 3D is a point in their favor for me.
maybe I’m dumb but what do you mean by “those teenagers”?
