  • China is capitalist and authoritarian. Their investment in their people is done with the goal of neo-colonialism as they use their wealth and influence to indebt growing nations to China. They invest in their people, but only enough to stave off mass protests. We see a lot of wealth come out of China, but remember that we could witness China uplift an equivalent amount of people to the entire population of the U.S. and they would still be oppressing a larger percentage of their population.

It looks like it’s working in contrast to the U.S. right now because we are currently crashing out as a nation, rewarding cash-grabbing opportunists even more than we have for all of U.S. history. Idk, there is a chance we fully burn up in this shit show going on right now and that would de-facto make China’s system technically better, but I think that’s the only way. I mean the atrocities China has committed against its own people and people around the world in recent decades is ridiculous. I know you weren’t going to bat for China don’t worry.

  • Blades in the dark and other forged in the dark systems are famous for being an early breakout in RPG game design. I’ve run a blades in the dark campaign and it was awesome.

Check out the YouTube channel “Quinns Quest” and I’m confident you can comfortably try any game he has reviewed to get a better roleplaying experience than D&D.

  • Maybe people should just stop playing D&D. It’s a game mired in ancient game design and forced through a cheese grater of updates over the years to try and make it OK.

    Also it’s owned by Hasbro.

There are dozens of better role playing games. Some identical to D&D with better rules, others excellent with imaginative worlds that aren’t just rehashes of lord of the rings and Arthurian legends.

But on the other hand, it is weird how sexual reproduction was selected for many times and rarely reverts back.

Like there are a lot of different modes of it in nature, species with more than 2 sexes, species that have 2 sex organs etc. but it does seem that somehow it gets selected for over alternatives.

  • From reddits 196, the only rule on the subreddit was that once you had visited the subreddit you had to post something before you left. I remember at the very beginning of the subreddit it was people posting whatever they had on their clipboard or the last image they had downloaded so it was just an unfiltered slice of life. They titled it “rule” cause what else were you going to title the random picture of a building you thought was neat?

Now (especially after a migration to Lemmy) the instance/subreddit is just an excuse to post memes and adding “rule” to the title is a relic.
