  • Content highways are a concept that I have been thinking about for years. Basically extensions that cut all the crap and give you the web experience you want. Sponsorblock already goes into that direction but I do wonder if it can finance itself or will sell put it‘s users eventually. I hope that concept could be expanded upon to block/warn users about certain triggers for example or dark patterns where the „remove ads!“ button on Twitch.tv gets flagged for being a paid subscription button etc.

  • Good. It’s a stupid discussion and in it‘s currently planned form would cripple the economy even more. I know small businesses that would lose half their workforce to conscriptions basically overnight and don‘t believe for a second any of those workers are stoked about service either. It will cripple their careers.

If you want to bolster defenses there are better ways because I believe if shit hits the fan, people will fight for their home in a free country against a foreign dictatorship. You just have to find ways to prepare us without conscription and increase wages in the military while you‘re at it.

  • They simply could‘ve nuked the 18+ section of Steam.

Was this ever a demand by payment processors??? To remove games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Cyberpunk 2077? I really don‘t see how this is evidence of Valve pushing back against anything. Perhaps people need to stop brainlessly sucking off Valve‘s dick for a minute.

Valve axed smut games because it was an easy business decision requiring minimum effort. They chose the boring and predictable path of lowest resistance which is the exact opposite of what they‘re being praised for here. Of course it‘s mildly annoying for Valve and they would rather sell whatever they want but they‘re not fighting for customers here at all.
