Steam very successfully destroyed the resale and lending of PC games and the same approach with digital rights management of downloads will do the same to the consoles.

I really wish the ground combat was better or entirely ignorable because its not as good as the space ship combat aspects of the game.

I keep trying to use the various LLMs that people recommend for coding for various tasks and it doesn’t just get things wrong. I have been doing quite a bit of embedded work recently and some of the designs it comes up with would cause electrical fires, its that bad. Where the earlier versions would be like “oh yes that is wrong let me correct it…” then often get it wrong again the new ones will confidently tell you that you are wrong. When you tell them it set on fire they just don’t change.

I don’t get it I feel like all these people claiming success with them are just not very discerning about the quality of the code it produces or worse just don’t know any better.

The console market ever since the PS3 and xbox 360 has been a leech on the PC platform market. They turn up every X years apart to buy a cheap GPU and CPU on a chip and demand rock bottom prices for volume and pay for none of the research and development in the intervening years.

I don’t think this affects anything other than some really ancient machines from the 1990s which would struggle to have enough RAM to run modern Linux anyway. But the problem is I could be wrong about that and there could be embedded systems that do need modern updates due to internet exposure about or other systems running apparently old instruction sets all over the world. I don’t know so I would want to see a feedback site set up for people to say if they need this support and to estimate how many exist.

One of the issues here is that being a Chinese paper in any field is still the most correlated with the paper being faked in some way. So while china is producing a lot of science and good science its also the world leader in garbage fake science too and it needs to get a handle on the problem.

OpenWRT supports two devices for wifi 7 on filogic 880 at the moment in snapshot, the banana R4 with BE14000 wifi card add on, its a development board, and the Asus BT8. There are still plenty of issues but Wifi 7 is starting to come to OpenWRT and these MT7988 devices are going to be the major thing supported first.

There is another big advance on the way soon called KPAP which changes the algorithm quite significantly and will allow quite a bit less pressure most of the time and should improve the way the therapy works. All the big manufacturers are involved in machines for it and should fix a lot of the issues APAP introduced.

Most of those limits have already been broken through and there is no political will to do anything but stamp on the accelerator and take humanity off the cliff at top speed.

Ultimately Google is going to do this to every customer in the end, its systems for detecting problems are buggy and you don’t get to speak to a human to fix the problem so a simple automated error becomes fatal. Its going to happen at some point and its a lot easier to migrate when it all still works than afterwards when it doesn’t.

It’s inevitable it’s coming, there is zero question about the acts committed it’s just got to go through the process.

They are going to get sued for billions and this little stunt isn’t going to change that. Should have implemented proper software testing before you took ever corporate computer in the world, but companies like this always force their developers to rush instead of do the right thing and when it bites them expect that things will carry on as normal. I can’t see many renewals in their future.

Either Intel is extremely incompetent and genuinely has no idea what is causing this problem or it knows full well is doing all it can to drag this out and avoid recalls. This saga has been going on all year now this is getting ridiculous.

Over the years I have used OSMC for my TV. I have never used it for streaming however always internal across the network streaming of my own content. It worked reasonably well for the most part although I have had issues with Samba in recent versions and have stopped using it. I can’t say much about its streaming, mostly for that you need a supported android or similar device rather than an open source one.

I have done this a few times, so long as the drive isn’t mounted it works fine.

One advantage of this approach compared to clonezilla is you can pipe it through netcat or similar and move it to another machine. You can also first pipe it through gzip as well to save on the transfer bytes a bit as well and then on the other end just store the compressed image or unzip it. Combine a few tools together and you have quite a lot of capability for complete image backups but its usually best done for the boot drives from a live USB.

Metube is great and also has some browser plugins as well so it’s as simple as right click and send to metube on a YouTube link. Wish there was one for android too but alas not yet that I have seen.
