Benjamin J. Davis, born on this day in 1903, was American lawyer and communist who was elected in 1943 to the New York City Council, representing Harlem. Davis was persecuted by the state via the anti-communist Smith and McCarran Acts.
Davis became radicalized through his role as defense attorney in the 1933 trial of Angelo Herndon, a 19-year-old black communist who had been charged “attempting to incite insurrection” because he tried to organize a farm workers’ union.
In 1949, Davis was among a number of communist leaders prosecuted for violating the Smith Act. He was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison. In 1962 Davis was charged with violating the Internal Security Act (also known as the McCarran Act), but died before the case could come to trial.
“Whether one agrees with the Communist Party or not, one must at least know the truth about it. One must not permit his ideas to be shaped by the hysteria which now passes as a ‘crusade against Communism’… For example, the canard that every Communist has his pockets lined with ‘Moscow gold.’ If that were true, one could be sure that there would scarcely be any room in our party for workers. The capitalists, to whom gold is god of the universe, would crowd them out.”
- Benjamin J. Davis
I hope you nerds have a good month of September

Seems like hexbear and lemmygrad are both trying to cure my Internet addiction, I’m noticing we’ve currently got 3-4 parallel threads bouncing on hasan’s dick and the posters that usually complain about all the Hasan threads are very quiet. Odd how any criticism of this website’s favorite white millionaire born-rich liberal zionist streamer are met with “go touch grass” and “well WTF have you done for the revolution lately, my daddy puts you to shame” while multiple creepy thirst trap posts are just hanging out, like we need a new one every day now. Positive coverage only I guess.
So yeah I prefer to complain about it in this thread rather than start an annoying argument in those threads. You might ask, why stay on a website that just triggers you, and honestly HB/lemmygrad together are so close to what I’m looking for in an online left politics/news hangout website, they’re just so white and exhausting sometimes.
Anyway it’s all pretty low stakes, just wanted to throw that out there somewhere
I do think it’s really funny when an internet celebrity gets criticized and everyone with a parasocial relationship with them thinks theyre being subtle by deflecting and saying everyone needs to touch grass, this doesnt further the movement, we should focus on more important topics as if this isnt a shitposting website first
They really dont realize how obvious theyre being
Yeah and “touch grass” does double duty by marginalizing The Wrong Opinion AND differently-abled people, at the same time!
I mean I work full time and organize IRL with comrades, oh my bad I wasn’t born rich or as white as Hasan, sorry for criticizing, my bad I can’t be as “effective” as some rich kid with a global platform I’ll be quiet (fuck off). Also noticed how silent HB’s favorite professional streamer has been about PSL/Green candidates in the most recent California election, plus how silent he seems to be (I can’t stand that guy so I get all my clips secondhand) about unhoused people in LA despite living in a big mansion in LA. Still love the pipeline though!
And you wonder why nobody takes Hasan critique seriously on this site, well there you go
