I’m new to fediverse and Lemmy. But why is that something to cry over? Isn’t that a good thing?
Well, a new instance is an unknown. Are we going to get another sopuli that brings all kinds of great users and content, or are we getting another hexbear where it’s more trouble than it’s worth?
You’ve got new communities popping up, and you can’t predict what they’ll be; could be a great thing, or it could be cartoon kiddie porn.
So, a new instance is always an interesting moment, where the potential is waiting to be unleashed.
I made !dullsters@dullsters.net but it’s somewhat a spinoff of !dull_mens_club@lemmy.world which I also created.
My guess would be dead communities that didn’t really need to be made in the first place. Such as dead duplicates of already popular communities or communities made by people with no intention of keeping them active.
Never a bad thing to make a new community, just a shame how many dead ones there are. It is a lot of work to keep a community active.
