They know they’ll probably lose, but the next government will be stuck with cleaning up the mess they caused. So the Tories will start blaming the new government for all the problems that were inherited, and people will complain that they aren’t fixing things quickly enough. Then in another 5-10 years the Tories will be back in power, because people are just that stupid.
