    This seems like a good deal for Azerbaijan. Apparently BYD is not simply selling buses, they are forming a partnership with a local company to build a factory that will build the buses. OF course, the devil is always in the details in these deals, so who knows.

    That said, there is of course a geopolitic angle to this, but as long as the next cold war is fought by “who can build green tech cheaper” instead of missiles like in Russia, I don’t see the problem.

    However, I don’t think Azerbaijan likes being referenced as a “former Soviet country”. Imagine if the US was referenced as a “former English colony” or China as a “former Mongolian colony”.

      Based on all the commercials during soccer matches, they prefer to be known as “Azerbaijan: Land of Fire.”

      Also, when I was in school, I memorized the majority Shiite countries by thinking the two “I”s in Shiite stand for Iraq and Iran. And then I just remembered Azerbaijan and Bahrain because it’s not that hard to remember 2 things that don’t fit your stupid idea about trying to make a theme to memorize 4 things.
